Radio frequency policy BCMYC Members and Visitors If you need assistance in understanding or complying
with this policy,
BCMYC member use of 50MHz / 6 Meter Band Amateur Radio, and 27MHz radio channels for boating is prohibited. These channels are shared air and ground frequencies and interference or channel overlap present a hazard to nearby R/C fliers. Digital Spread Spectrum radios have eliminated the old problem of frequency conflicts. But if you're still operating with the older radio technology, you must have a clothespin attached to your transmitter antenna with the channel/frequency that corresponds to your transmitter to in order to turn on your transmitter. These are available pond-side at club events. If the clothespin is missing from this frequency board it means that another person is currently using that particular channel/frequency. It is your responsibility to contact the other user(s) of the channel/frequency and let them know that more than one user of the channel/frequency is here today. You must work out a sharing arrangement with any other users of the channel/frequency you intend to use, and secure the clothespin, and additionally insure the other person’s transmitter is off before turning your transmitter on. When you are finished sailing turn off your transmitter and receiver and return the clothespin to the board for another person to use. If you have any questions how this frequency control system works please ask a BCMYC member. This system is in place to ensure the safe, fun operation of all models. Thank you. Officers of the BCMYC
